Posts in Challenge 6: Create A Short Film Category

boot_chris.jpg

Good Monday to you all! Judging from the number of comments, controversies and votes generated, this last round appears to be a hot one! And hotly contested too.

Frank's feline spinning demo didn't go down well with the perhaps too overtly sensitive animal lovers (dun worry Frank, we get cumloads of whiners everyday at QC. For us it's just called Tuesday). Aaron & Shane from CollegeDudes247 (our kind Platinum Sponsor yay!) responded to Ernie's 2-min marker-p0rno re-enactment. And guess what the vid BryanBoy did on Marc Jacobs landed him? A call from Marc Jacobs himself!!

All good times. But it's also that time again... to say goodbye to one of our awesome bloggers.

After end of voting for Round 6: Create A Short Film the bottom 3 in no particular order are:

Chris, About a Boy and His Briefs
D.Michael, CitizenDangerX
Ernie, Little Yellow Different.

The blogger with the lowest votes was Chris, About a Boy and His Briefs.

Chris, we are sad to see you go, but hope you keep watching and rooting for your favorite blogger. We'll see you around and don't be a stranger!

Hello again! Craig from Puntabulous here! The challenge was to make a short video of whatever we wanted. I hope you guys don't consider this a cop out, but I'm presenting a video I made over the summer. It's practically brand new! I'm sure you guys haven't seen it yet. The only people that have seen it are my blog readers, so that's like 5 people. So it's new to you! Plus I put a lot of hard work into it, so it's gotta count for something!

I am proud to present: THE C-TEAM! Or as some call it: "A Tall Lanky Doofus Running Around His Backyard to the A-Team Theme Song"

I'm not sure what inspired me to make this video. The A-Team aired while I was between the ages of 2-6 so I've never seen an episode in my life. I was too busy watching DuckTales and Transformers at the time. I think I saw an episode of Family Guy when they spoofed the A-Team and I got the theme song stuck in my head.

I pity the fool who doesn't vote for me!

Ugh. I hate myself for saying that.

In my day-to-day blogging I definitely rely on video to help me tell the complete story. You have seen that with my other entries in this competition. I attach clips of musical performances, crazy commercials and dancing cats. I have NEVER done my own video though!

I wasn't sure where to start, so I was thinking as I was driving and then WHAM! the idea hit. So here you have it... a glimpse into the reality of my supposedly glamorous life.

The song is Highway Blues by the Seattle jazz-trio called New Stories.

Please be gentle... it is my first movie!

Conservative pundit Ann Coulter throws a temper tantrum, sits on cake.Where did the whole "cake sitting" idea come from? Early on in the days of our podcast, we had interviewed filmmaker John Waters where he revealed his fascination with "sploshing" videos and magazines coming from England. Sploshing is seen by many as a sexual fetish where messy substances like food or gels are liberally applied to a persons skin. We think it works best if the person is dressed up in some sort of authority figure and gets messed up. The humor to me resembles those classic "Three Stooges" episodes that ended in pie fights at the rich lady's house, where all the artistocrats got literally soaked in custard pies.

It touches a deep funny bone inside me.

So we turned this around and asked the audience on our podcast to submit their own cake sitting videos but with a political purpose. Harking to Marie Antoinette, we want America to sit on cakes to stop the war.

"No cake shall be left unsat until we bring home the troops from Iraq."

This World AIDS Day (Dec. 1) I'd like to also send a message of love and healing to all the people of the world who suffer from this terrible disease.

Here are some past videos of people who've sat on cakes before:

Drew:

Jeremy:

and Pedro:
(the first guy who ever sent us a cake-sitting video)

My adorable cat Anderson Pooper (the official cat of !! omg blog !!) likes a good spin on the floor now and again, but he never lets me do it for more than ten seconds or so. This film explores the possibility of a longer spinning session and its repercussions. It's heavy stuff, not for the faint of heart, but before you accuse me of animal cruelty, rest assured there is generous looping going on in the video.

If you're not too dizzy by the end, please give me the thumbs up and maybe I'll put some of that prize money towards making more important art like this! xo Frank

Unless you live in a cave, you should know by now that Marc Jacobs, is no doubt, one of America's (and the world's) leading fashion designers.

"Despite whatever rumors you may have heard, I'm not out of my mind."
-- Marc Jacobs, 2007

I have a soft spot for this man. I really do. I started becoming fashion-obsessed right about the time when he took over Louis Vuitton, which is during my early teens. Suffice to say, his creations (for his own line, Marc Jacobs, his diffusion line Marc by Marc Jacobs and Louis and insight became part of my daily inspiration over the years.

From hardcore fashion critics such as Suzy Menkes (International Herald Tribune) who labeled his main line collection for Spring 2008 as a "freak show" to his on-and-off relationship with Jason Preston, his work and personal life made a lot of headlines as of late. While most designers keep their private lives away from public view, no other fashion designer (at least to my knowledge) is constantly on the media because of their personal issues. Because Marc is always out there, it makes him more... I dunno... "he's just like us" real.

I like to think that famous people are nothing but figments of my imagination. With all the things that are written about them these days, barely anyone knows what's real or not and the only way to know the facts is to get them straight from the horse's mouth. Unfortunately, I doubt there's a chance in this lifetime I'll get to meet Marc and without interacting with him on a personal and 'real' scale, he'll remain as someone who is part of (like most things 'fashion') a fantasy.
